What CodeFinder is

CodeFinder is a web tool created for drivers and DIY mechanics. When the check engine light comes on and your scanner shows a code like P0420 or P0300, here you can quickly and clearly find:

• The description of the code.
• The category it belongs to (powertrain, chassis, body, or network).
• The possible causes of the fault.
• An estimate of the severity.
• A YouTube video showing how to diagnose and repair the problem.

How it works

The site uses a database with more than 6,600 diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). You type a code — complete or partial, like "420" — and the finder shows you the matches. Clicking a result takes you to the full details page with all the information and a related solution video.

The app is available in five languages (Spanish, English, French, German, and Portuguese) and automatically detects your browser's language.

Our mission

We want anyone to be able to understand their vehicle's diagnosis without being a mechanic. Knowing what a code means lets you talk to the workshop with more confidence and, in many cases, fix simple faults yourself.
